Valley PBS is hosting Engineer It, Girl! at Highland Elementary School on February 3rd. Engineer It, Girl! is a FREE STEM workshop. The registration link is on the attached flyer.
Seven students from today's District Science Fair will be moving on to the county competition. Thank you to the judges, coaches, and all of the participants for their excellent projects and presentations.
It is that time of year again when fog may delay transportation to school. As a reminder, Standard School District has two-hour bus delays on foggy days. School is open for students even when buses are delayed.

Local radio and television stations monitor the Alertline and begin announcing closures and bus delays by 6:00 a.m. Please visit the Alertline page and listen to the radio and television stations on foggy mornings.
All schools and district offices will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Standard School District Parents and Community Members are invited to join the Superintendent, Dr. Hively, for a Coffeehouse Chat this Friday, January 12, 2024, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Covenant Coffee on North Chester Avenue.
Thank you to our community partners for their generous donations to Standard School District students and families over the holidays. Ethel's donated 80 toys for our Oildale Toy Run. Dennis Shaw of Sierra School Equipment and Catholic Charities of Bakersfield donated 229 jackets. Noel Dalton, Bakersfield College Head Tennis Coach, and the Kern County Tennis Association donated tennis racquets for our student-athletes participating in our tennis program. Chevron donated $5K toward providing a holiday snack pack, toy, and book for 100 students. Chevron staff and Rotary members help with wrapping toys and bagging snack items.
